Hikaru Nakamura Signs with Misfits Gaming Group

Today, Misfits Gaming Group (MGG) announced that American chess Grandmaster and streamer, Hikaru Nakamura has joined the organization as an influencer and content creator. The partnership comes amidst Nakamura winning the 2022 FIDE Grand Prix championship and earning a coveted spot in the 2022 Candidates Tournament, taking place between June 16th and July 7th to determine a challenger for the World Chess Championship. 

Hikaru has had an outspoken and outsized role at growing the game and captivating new audiences.  He is the number one chess streamer on Twitch with over 1.4 million followers, and is a five-time United States champion. At age 15, he earned the title of Grandmaster,  becoming the youngest American to do so, supplanting the long-standing record held by the legendary Bobby Fischer.  Since then, he has represented the United States at five Chess Olympiads, winning a team gold medal and two team bronze medals. Since becoming a streamer, he is known for his chess skills, entertaining viewers with his ability to perform with speed and accuracy while providing witty and insightful commentary.

Hikaru will work in collaboration with Misfits Gaming Group on a range of events, video content and streams that not only involve  his chess skills, but provide him with the platform and resources to continue developing additional passion projects.  He  joins Misfit Gaming Group’s  current roster of creators including Tubbo, Ranboo, Aimsey and SushiBAE.
